2. Learning Objectives
My internship as a Dramaturgist with the Ivy Tech Stage theater group will allow me to develop tools in marketing and promoting their group as well as providing online platforms for databases, tutorials and training thus enabling an archival history of their progress. As this is a new curriculum and theater group I am excited at the opportunity to be the first person to establish the tools for them as a model for their future productions.
Describe the activities and experiences that enabled you to accomplish your objectives.
Prearranged meetings with Prof. Parmley enabled me to receive the insight of the groups vision and needs in collaborating on an array of platforms that would provide the tools to meet the objectives.
Was it helpful to define some personal objectives prior to beginning the work experience?
Yes, the goal was to show how the work of a Dramaturgist encompasses the skills a Library Science Student acquires and utilizes in the activities and work in the theater and its activities.
Were the objectives helpful in focusing your work experience on several areas of interest to you?
Yes, the direct relationship of researching productions, writing articles and blogs, establishing databases, creating websites and tutorials, and storing them in electronic files for future use runs parallel to the same activities in a traditional public library. It is safe to say a Dramaturgist is as much a Librarian and Gatekeeper of
Theatrical Information as one would be in a traditional library.
3. Project
Summarize the project using the following questions to help you shape your response:
Describe the project: The following library tools will be created and utilized for the project to promote the activities of The Ivy Tech Stage Theater Group.
3 websites will be developed and utilized. http://ivytechstage.weebly.com , http://ivytechcrew.weebly.com , http://ivytechact.weebly.com
Archival programs and electronic files will be created and stored online. http://ivytechstage.weebly.com/media-links.html
Video screen casts of archived materials will be created and archived. http://ivytechact.weebly.com/tutorials
Databases of tutorials for training and instruction will be created. http://ivytechcrew.weebly.com/tutorials
A main stage website as a marketing tool will be created and utilized. http://ivytechstage.weebly.com
Ticket and merchandise design and support. http://ivytechstage.weebly.com/tickets
Review and research of productions and their Authors. http://ivytechstage.weebly.com/blog

Tell how the project was useful to you and to the Host Facility: The collaboration in developing an array of platforms to research, archive, promote, market, and utilize the many activities of the theater confirmed our belief that the need for a Dramaturgist is the same need for a Librarian in a library setting. The information that is needed to be created and stored provides the theater group with the need archival records and resources in promoting its start, its present activities, its history, and the announcement of future plans and productions all wrapped in different formats.
The use of electronic sources proved to be cost free and provides the greatest strategy in managing required space and accessibility to that of a cloud based collection for retrieval anywhere in the world via a mobile internet device accessing the groups media links.
What were some of the problems you encountered? There were no problems just an awareness that there was no funding and the purpose was to prove the entire project could be completed using free open source programs, which was achieved.
What was the best part of the experience? The collaboration and planning at the start allowed a clear path to have the freedom to pick and choose open source programs that would mesh into a interactive platform of three websites integrated to record the groups activities all for free. No budget was needed only the knowledge of what was available indicating that knowledge and information is more powerful than money which was not needed. This was a very challenging goal that was met.
